Stunning Canberra-based model Angela Sheather, 23, has been
chosen by an overwhelming majority of Official Australian Swimsuit Calendar buyers as the
most popular girl featured in the 2002 edition. She will now represent Australia at the
Miss Calendar Girl World Finals in The Bahamas in December.
The Miss Calendar Girl Australia Search contest stretched from April to July last year and
was held in twelve top entertainment venues all over Australia. Over 1,000 girls entered
and competed for only twelve spots available in the 2002 Official Australian Swimsuit
Calendar.
Angels won her way into the calendar through one the preliminary competitions at Bobby
McGees in Canberra and scored herself the month of February. The calendar was shot on
location at the picturesque Long Island Resort in July last year. It then went on sale in
newsagents and gift shops all over the country and the buyers were invited to vote for
their favourite girl. As the votes were counted on January 31st, 2000, it soon became
apparent that Angela would emerge as a clear winner. First runner-up was Miss October -
Michelle Bartoli representing Inflation Niteclub, VIC. , and second runner-up was Miss
January - Emma Wilson representing International Players Sportsbar in Ipswich, QLD.
Angela will now go on to represent Australia in the Miss Calendar Girl World Finals in The
Bahamas in December. She will compete against more than 80 beauties from all over the
world for a coveted spot in the Trim/Spa American Dream Calendar. Her all-expenses paid
trip will also include special celebrity cocktail parties, photo shoots, VIP functions,
media parties and much, much more.
The publishers of the calendar and promoters of the Miss Calendar Girl Search are pleased
with the buyers choice. Says director Jim Lagerstedt:
"We are extremely happy with the public choice. Angela has been working hard towards
her dream of representing Australia overseas and now it is all coming true
in a big way. I feel that Angela is a deserving winner and a very good ambassador for our
country. She is positive, ambitious, easy-going and friendly. She is an excellent
role-model and I am convinced that she will make a great representative while
overseas."
Prizes up for grabs in the world finals include cash, modelling contracts, a page in the
American Dream Calendar, TV appearances, jewellery, holidays, cosmetics and much more.
Angela will further receive $500 spending money.
