Jinnali
on Fire 2003 CalendarAustralia's first
indigenous Women's Calendar was born from a common idea shared by two
women who, at the time, were at separate ends of Queensland and were unaware
that each
other shared the dream. Jinnali Productions provides the Indigenous
community and the
general public with a business that has
spirituality, passion and professionalism.
Liza Fraser-Gooda and Dina Paulson, a dynamic duo, shared a vision of producing an
Indigenous Women's Calendar. Their vision was to select fourteen
beautiful Indigenous
women and have them pose in fourteen
significant locations within Queensland.
Along with Dene Owens and Barbara Paulson, they wanted to
capture the true inner beauty and spirituality through the photographs that make a
definite statement about what the modern Indigenous woman represents in Australian society
today.
It was that vision and a
chance meeting that lead them to cross paths and begin their spiritual connection to form
Jinnali Productions.
Their combined skills and
talents enabled them to not only produce Australia's first Indigenous Women's Calendar in
2001, but to launch the first Indigenous publishing and promotions business. For this, the
2003 Calendar, our great team of photographers has given their time freely, and for that
we are most appreciative.

DINA
PAULSON
It has always been my dream to own a business that made an impact on my community, that
gave them something to be proud of, especially the young girls. I wanted to give them
someone to look up to, a role model who was strong and independent. This project has
enabled us to share and provide an understanding of our culture to the rest of the world
in a positive form. |
LIZA FRASER-GOODA
This project is so significant and meaningful to me as it symbolises my Aboriginal culture
growing stronger into the new millennium. It shows we are survivors. I want to be a leader
for my people. I want to create opportunities for my people and I will continue the
struggle that our ancestors and elders have endured over the last 212 years.
I hope this calendar will show all Australians how lucky they are to have one of the
oldest and richest cultures in their backyard. |
